The Furphy of Elusive Lines that have Moved!
Tuesday 24th Feb 2009 12:00 AM
This trade has been in the market place for 90 minutes. One of the wives tales touted on the internet about arbitrage trading is that sportsbooks changes their odds quickly.Trades, when using realtime data often last for hours. The reason people have got themselves thinking that bookies move their lines fast is that most clients before getting involved with Carbon A have tried one of the $50 subscription service feeds. Without any education on how to trade in these markets people are left generally scratching their heads as to why they're not succesful.
Case Scenario: The novice trader with the inferior data finds one leg of trade and proceeds to place the trade with the bookmaker. The novice then trys to locate the other half of the trade and realises that the bookmaker has moved the line...leaving them not in an arbitrage position and stuck on one side of the match only. The novice then convinces himself that it is his fault because he wasn't quick enough to navigate around....hence the wives tale that bookies change their odds quickly. The real reality is that the data they had to start with was so delayed that the price had probably changed hours ago. You can read more about these subscripition feed sevices on our FAQ
To be a successful trader it is imperative to have correct data that's where the CarbonA is in a league of its own.
This trade was screen shot about a half an hour ago and guess what.. the prices are still at the bookmakers!!
